Proms Concert a Huge Success!

Wow! What a night the band had last night. I think we are all still buzzing this morning after the success of last night’s Proms concert. Held at St Andrew’s Church in Frimley Green, the band were joined by a full and appreciative audience, with many familiar faces, and some much welcomed new faces.

Armed with a wonderfully selected programme of music, the band performed a mix of challenging new pieces including Rossini’s Thieving Magpie, along with some old favourites such as Fantasia on British Sea Songs, and Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1.

With a full and rich sounding band, the audience received the music with cheer and triumph, whilst the band performed with smiles and conviction. Audience members were lucky enough to hear the clarinet concerto during Fantasia, performed by our principal clarinettist Louise Yeldon, with outstanding musicianship and her unmistakable perfection.

This year we have been supporting and fundraising for COPS – Care of Police Survivors – a well worthy cause who help rebuild the lives of families who have lost loved ones whilst serving in the line of duty. We heard from Denis Gunn, a trustee of the charity, who gave a very touching speech which reinforced exactly why the band chose to support COPS, and feel very honoured to be doing so.

We would like to say such a big thank you to everyone who came along yesterday; for supporting us and for supporting our charity COPS. We are looking forward to seeing you all again at our last concert of the year, which will be held on Sunday 15th December, 6pm, at our usual venue of St Barbara’s Church in Deepcut. Please do come down and join in all the Christmas fun!
