The Queen at 90!
The band were absolutely delighted to play at the recent Birthday Picnic held at the Fairlands Community Centre in celebration of the Queen’s 90th Birthday. We had so much wonderful feedback, that we will leave this, along with the photos, to tell the story of the day! With thanks to everyone who came to support us at this wonderful celebration.
“Everyone had a real blast – so as to speak – from the Surrey Police Band, and left us residents going home tip top and happy”
“We loved the police band, thoroughly enjoyed that. What a rousing performance. Rule Britannia !!!”
“Well done! I am (almost) glad my cricket was cancelled. A fantastic afternoon, wonderful atmosphere , with a first class band”
“Thank you for a very memorable afternoon full of fun, despite the weather ! To echo ( is that the right phrase ) Shakespeare, Henry V, “gentlemen in England now abed, shall think themselves accursed they were not here “. They missed a real treat with the Surrey Police Band”
“The Surrey Police Band did a marvellous job on the stage. Our family loved their final set which finished the day off splendidly and was accompanied by lots of flag waving and singing to “Rule Britannia” “Jerusalem” and “Land of Hope and Glory” – I’m sure much better than Last night at the Proms.”
“My dear old mum was so tearful with pride waving her union jack. Please bless the Surrey Police Band for making her day”
“An awesome experience with the flag waving finish given by the Surrey Police Band. We enjoyed the first grouping of tunes and appreciated the variety of music, but wow wouldn’t have wanted to miss the ending. Please pass on my thanks for bringing alive our community.”

It’s a Sell Out!
Oh what a night!!
A heartfelt thanks from all of us at Surrey Police Band to every single person who was part of such a wonderful evening last night at our Christmas Concert. To our musicians who put on an outstanding performance, to all our wonderful volunteers who helped to stage such a smooth running show, to our fabulous committee, especially our Chair Rachel, who has spent many hours considering every last detail, and to our wonderful conductor Graham for putting together such a magical programme to wow our full and appreciative audience. We really couldn’t have asked for more!
The sell out evening opened with ‘A Proclamation of Christmas’ and flowed wonderfully through a variety of pieces, from traditional Christmas carols, as well as festive favourites such as Sleigh Ride and A Christmas Festival, through to film excerpts from Frozen and The Polar Express, accommodating for all the family!
Our famous home made cakes, with the festive addition of mince pies and mulled wine, made for a tasty and atmospheric interval.
The second half was kicked off by our raffle, which featured an array of fantastic prizes kindly donated by local companies. We were delighted to be able to present a cheque for £1,000 to Chris Major of The Children’s Trust, our fundraising total from the band’s previous three concerts.
Younger members of the audience were invited to join in on various percussion instruments during Troika, and the evening was topped off with a surprise visit from Father Christmas, who was feeling very generous this year as he handed out presents to members of the audience.
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported – what a wonderful evening which we hope left our audience members in the Christmas spirit. If you missed out on a ticket this year, be sure to book well in advance for next year’s concert!
We wish you a very Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in 2016.
Christmas is on its way!
WOW! After the most fantastic Proms Concert on Sunday, we are already buzzing to start rehearsing for our Christmas appearances!
We were absolutely delighted to perform to a fully packed out church on Sunday. Not only was it lovely to have row upon row of beaming faces, but the atmosphere was full of such fun – we are very glad the hats, flags and hooters went down a treat. We don’t think Fantasia on British Sea Songs has ever been more eventful! Such a big thank you to all those who attended and contributed to a great fundraising night for both The Children’s Trust, the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury, and Shooting Star Chase, a leading hospice caring for babies, children and young people living with life limiting conditions.
We are eager to get straight back into rehearsals next week for our upcoming Christmas Concert on Sunday 20th December. Spring has Sprung!
We are very excited to bring to you our first concert of the year on Sunday 19th April at Garrison Church of St Barbara! Audience members can look forward to a unique evening, celebrating the diverse musical tapestry making up the British Isles. Surrey Police Band conductor, Graham Atterbury, has put together an excellent selection of challenging pieces taking you on a journey through England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
We are incredibly proud to be fundraising for The Children’s Trust, a local charity helping children with brain injury. The Children’s Trust works with children and young people from across the UK, both from its specialist centre in Tadworth, Surrey, and in communities around the country. The Children’s Trust has an unparalleled reputation in its field, thanks to the commitment to meeting the diverse needs of these children and their families, as well as the ability to deliver the best possible combination of nursing, therapy, medical care and education. The specialist services provided come at a cost which is not fully met by statutory sources, so The Children’s Trust rely on voluntary donations from supporters. By supporting our concerts, you will be helping to fund vital building works, key members of staff, new equipment, and much much more!
